Agreed. Another example of US lawyers and academics meddling in affairs that should be of little interest to them other than virtue signalling rights.

The Mexicans will deal with illegal deforestation, if in fact there is any, and Mother Nature will ensure the Monarch butterfly adapts.

I wonder who is funding this Climate Rights International group out of California? How about starting to deal with the homelessness and illegal immigration

Any international problem — illegal deforestation, gun smuggling, human trafficking, Fentanyl, — demands international attention and solutions. It’s silly to put one problem against another as if resolving these issues in Michoacán and Jalisco take anything away from whatever else needs resolving. U.S . Senator's are asleep and uninformed! There are already stringent protocols in place that preclude illegal avocados from being exported to the USA.... Maybe the U.S. senators should worry about the problems with water and agriculture in their own country

US consumption of avocados, just like US consumption of illegal drugs, drives crime in Mexico. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the US government, in cooperation with Mexico, to make laws and regulations that will curtail the ill effects of US behavior.
