Also the local buses accept the Sr citizen card, 50% off of the bus ride. I lived there and used it alot and I go back to visiting a couple times per year and use my card there, love the savings.

I would if it was available – the parking is off the road but outside the building – it’s had one serious attack (40,000 + peso of damage) and two fairly serious and a number of minor dents and long scratches

I think it’s worth paying for covered parking; your car is safe and it’s not expensive.

You dont mention the Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton escapade, for wht its worth, 50 years ago. On my last visit they still remebered Brurton spouting Shackspear standing on the tables in local bars

Great write-up, which bought back fond memories. We last stayed in PV in 2021, when the town was still dealing with the Covid epidemic. We were initially shocked at how much the place had grown, but we stayed at a family favourite, the Los Tules hotel in an apartment which was a safe choice. Two highlights to mention: an early morning fishing and bathing trip with a local fisherman, who prepared us fresh ceviche tostadas on the boat. And a trip to the PV botanical gardens south of the city which are magical and well worth a visit and is best reachable by taxi / Uber.

Meagan, Thank you for this fascinating and inspiring approach to PV. I live in Ajijic, visited PV only once, saw Miami Beach, and wanted to get back to Mexico as fast as I could. Obviously I just saw the tourist outlines. I would just say unfortunately there is a degree of malice towards foreigners from some locals ; if you are perceived as “wealthy” your car is likely to be repeatedly vandalized etc
