Another number: 186,000. Thats total homicides in Mexico over the ALMO term. Crime and impunity are bringing Mexican society to its knees. US guns and demand for drugs from US users continue to overwhelm Mexico’s weak justice and law enforcement Institutioms. Teenagers with machine guns riding around in camouflage pick up trucks (Mexico’s Guardia Naciinal) can’t be Mexico’s principle law enforcement response. Stop arming the criminals, America!

This article is written with a US-centric outlook. Both nations will hold elections this year with both having impacts at home and abroad. I was disappointed to see that; once again, the views in this article centered on what was the best for US interests – the standby for all US foreign policy for decades. It’s time for the US to start approaching international policies without an outlook of what other countries must do for us. In the long run both sides doing what is best for both sides will be the driver of far more effective agreements and policies. US foreign policy has failed with our Latin American neighbors for decades. Maybe an article from their viewpoint to counter this article is called for.
